Accommodation
- The Hyatt Regency, Coolum
- this world class resort is set amongst 150 hectares
of lush rainforest, fronted by Pacific Ocean beaches.
This luxurious resort provides a challenging 18 hole,
top rated golf course, a tennis centre, fitness facilities,
a choice of 8 swimming pools, 4 restaurants and a
village square with boutiques, shops and eateries.
Late
Afternoon - Golf at Novotel
Twin Waters GC,
Mudjimba Beach (10 minutes from the Hyatt Regency).
This challenging, 6,188 m. Course was designed by
Peter Thompson and Mike Wolveridge. The layout is
a typically tough links course, with bunkers and wide
contoured fairways. Golfers who miss the fairway are
punished with water, bush or long grass. The pick
of the holes is the 8th, where both water and deep
pot bunkers come into play far too frequently for
the hacker.
Day
6
Play golf at the Hyatt Regency
GC,
Coolum, a 6,326 m course. On all but 6 of the holes,
water comes into play. The pick of the holes is the
18th, considered by many professionals as one of the
best closing holes in Australia. Golf, being thirsty
work, there are telephones at both the 9th and 18th
tees, so you can call ahead and place drink orders
at the bar.
Afternoon
- Visit Noosa
(20 kms north) - a place of natural beauty. A sub-Tropical
paradise with sparkling beaches, soft white sand,
sheltered bays, brilliant blue skies, sophisticated
shopping, sidewalk cafes, gourmet dining and abundant
wild life.
Day
7
Play golf or visit Fraser
Island (World Heritage listed in 1992)
situated just north of Noosa. This is the largest
sand island in the world. The island's exceptional
sand dune systems, its rainforest on sand, the magnificent
coloured sand pinnacles, the pristine freshwater lakes,
make this an environmental wonderland that ought not
be missed.
Day
8
Fly
to Cairns,
Tropical North Queensland.
Transfer
to Kewarra Lodge.
Time for sightseeing or simply relax.
Day
9
Early
Morning - Golf at Paradise
Palms Golf Course.
This 18 hole layout is a Marsh/Watson design, measuring
6,595 m. The course is known for its hazards and natural
beauty. The hazards - 6 lakes and 94 bunkers - offers
a true test to all markers. It is set on the site
of a former sugar cane plantation, bordered by the
rainforest clad McAllister range and the Coral Sea.
The course has been further enhanced by the planting
of over 4,000 trees, including Royal Palms, Mango,
Poinciana, Lychee and Frangipani. This picture-perfect
venue also provides an on-course beverage cart and
tee shelters on the 5th and 13th tees.
Afternoon
- Transfer to Thala Beach
Lodge,
near Port Douglas. This exclusive, luxury, eco tourism
haven is surrounded by two (2) kms of private sandy
beaches and sheltered coves. This is an environment
for those who appreciate the finer things in life
while basking in the simplicity of nature. The restaurant
offers fine food and uninterrupted views for 110 kms
- a remarkable vista, studded by coral islands, reefs
and mountain ranges.
Day
10
Play golf at the Mirage Country
Club GC,
a championship 6,261 m. course. The original home
of the Skins Tournament in Australia. The 6 par three,
6 fours and 6 fives, make up 2 distinctive nines.
The opening nine holes are known as the Reef nine,
bordered by the Coral Sea and the inward nine is the
Mountain nine, with the backdrop of the Atherton Tablelands.
The par 3, 13th may not present too many difficulties,
even for the high handicapper, but it is perhaps the
most picturesque hole on the layout - built on an
island lagoon and surrounded by palms. This will be
a golf game you will remember for a long time.
Day
11
The
Great Barrier Reef - the region's No. 1
tourist drawcard - is the crowning jewel in the world's
treasure chest of natural wonders. It is the largest
coral system in the world, containing more than 2,500
individual reefs and islands, stretching for more
than 2,000 kms along the Queensland coast. It covers
an area about half the size of Texas.
We
have organised a full day
charter on a 52' sailing boat, professionally
crewed. We will visit two northern outer reefs, where
you can go snorkelling, fishing, boomnetting. Enjoy
a tropical buffet lunch and be served morning and
afternoon tea. (Beer, wine and soft drinks on consumption
basis, own expense).
This
will be a day filled with fun and action - an incredible
and unforgettable experience - enjoying the splendour
of the Great Barrier Reef.
